Steve Sheeran – Film 1Steve Sheeran’s musical career was decided at the toss of a coin whilst at school… whoever won the toss got to learn the tuba. Steve also has a strong musical lineage – his dad played the piano and he believes his granddad attended Kneller Hall. Watch as he describes being drawn towards to the Grenadier Guards after seeing them in concert and at Felixstowe Carnival.
Steve Sheeran – Film 2Steve Sheeran played the tuba in the Grenadier Guards - it's not the smallest instrument to handle! After 18 months military and musical training at Pirbright, Steve went to Kneller Hall to continue his musical training. Watch as he recalls the local community, Bill’s Café, Dick’s Café and the end of course breakout parade down Whitton High Street.
Steve Sheeran – Film 3Jining the Grenadier Guards means you start at the bottom again. Although a tuba player, he also had to do his bit with the Bass drum - a physically demanding instrument. Watch as Steve recalls his first guard mount at Buckingham Palace. One can imagine the pride.
Steve Sheeran – Film 4Steve Sheeran’s first overseas tour was to Cyprus to where his battalion played parades and concerts for other regiments and the local community. Despite appearances, not everything goes according to plan in the band. Steve recalls a couple of funny moments when it wasn't just his tunic that was bright red.

Steve Sheeran – Film 6Steve played with the Grenadier Guards in the Festival of Remembrance at the Albert Hall. Playing Nimrod at the cenotaph always brought a tear to his eye. He goes on to share his feelings for Kneller Hall.
Steve Sheeran – Film 7Military musicians had to undertake medical training on top of their musical commitments. Steve was deployed during the ambulance strikes in London - an horrendous task for someone who hates the sight of blood. He then expresses his thoughts on Kneller hall and the impact it had on his life. Thanks Steve for a great interview.
