On a weekend's leave, Marjorie went home to Liverpool and her house received a direct hit from a 1000lb bomb. It was completely demolished and the family, who had been sheltering beneath the stairs, had to be dug out from the rubble. Incredibly, she and the family [and the dog] were unhurt!
