Leslie Fernandez – Film 1When war was declared, Leslie, like many other young men at the time, joined the Territorial Army to do his bit. His physical ability and enjoyment of sports, ensured that he soon found his way to the Army Physical Training Corp. He eventually achieved the rank of Sergeant Instructor, which is how he became involved with the SOE. In this, the first film of 6, Leslie describes some of his training at Beaulieu and Ringway in Manchester [where he learned how to parachute].
