Who were these men?

Who Do You Think They Were is an educational project, funded by the Heritage Lottery, that will enable pupils to learn about the First World War through three veterans’ personal oral histories. This unique audio recording features three veterans talking candidly about their experiences of lives in the trenches of France.

Military Musicians

Band of Sisters

A project exploring the 100-year history of the experiences of families living with wounded veterans. We interviewed 30 people about their experiences, wrote a paper and also created a children’s book.

Cold War: The Korean War

‘Korea- The Forgotten War’ was a project that uncovered the stories of service personnel who fought in the Korean War from 1950-53. We filmed interviews with 70 veterans who fought in conditions similar to those of the Great War.

Cold War: The Berlin Airlift

In 1948, the world held its breath as tensions between East and West reached a critical point. When the Soviet Union blockaded West Berlin, cutting off food, fuel, and essential supplies, the Western Allies launched an audacious mission: to keep 2.1 million people alive using only aircraft. The Berlin Airlift was a logistical miracle, a political standoff, and a defining moment in the early Cold War.

WW2: Our Secret War

During the Second World War, a covert war was also being waged to undermine the Axis powers using clandestine methods. The headquarters of many of the organisations involved in this work were based in London.

WW2: Naval Convoys

Keeping Britain Afloat set out to film the personal stories of 50 Veterans who served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. Collectively, these men and women kept the convoys moving which helped Britain survive and ultimately win the war.
