V-1's, known as Doodlebugs or Buzz bombs were high powered flying missiles that were launched at Britain from France during 1944. Their engines made a droning noise and when they ran out of fuel, the noise stopped and the Doodlebug would drop from the sky and create carnage. 8,000 were launched at Britain, with over 2,000 of them hitting the capital and killing 6,000 people.
