George Batts talks candidly about his life as a Corporal with the Royal Engineers. By his own admission he was daft to ‘volunteer’ for a posting that appeared in the build up to D-Day. The opportunity mean’t he would spend much of the first few days of the landings lying on his stomach defusing mines.
Then he spends time on the Mulberry Harbour before heading East himself.
You might recognise George as he’s invested a huge amount of personal energy and time in the successful running of the recently disbanded Normandy Veterans Association.
